If you read last week's blog, you know that we devoted an entire post to an overview of all the music theater shows that are up and running in 2024. We started at the north end of the Parkway in Pigeon Forge and gradually worked our way south as we introduced you to many of the venues that add a spark to the entertainment scene in the Smokies. So far, we've already discovered a little bit of everything, from all genres of music and comedy to magic and dinner shows.
However, we've only begun our journey into the land of live entertainment in Pigeon Forge. This week, we'll pick up where we left off, traveling down the Parkway and taking a peek behind the current at several other venues. And as always, don't forget about Smoky Mountain Ziplines the next time you buy tickets for a show. Our Pigeon Forge zip line adventure is the ideal complement to a fun afternoon or evening at a theater.
This Pigeon Forge venue specializes in Christian-based theater productions. The main show, A Savior Has Come, is a 2.5-hour event for all ages, while Women of Grace focuses on the importance that women played in our biblical stories. The first half of both shows, however, is a full gospel music concert, which is then followed by the theatrical musical production. Each show is accompanied by a full meal. And while you're there, you might want to view The Museums at Biblical Times, three unique attractions designed to educate, encourage and excite visitors. Exhibits range from the Shroud of Turin to the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame.
Yep, here's another theater with multiple productions under one roof. This one is located on Teaster Lane, across from the Mountain Mile, about a block off the Parkway. The shows include Sounds of Soul in the Smokies, featuring Dre Hilton; Steven Best's Unbelievable Magic show; and Cash and the King, starring Josh Rush, who pays tribute to both Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley in a musical revue.
This venue is also on Teaster Lane and has several shows for visitors to enjoy. One is Brian Hoffman's one-man tribute to legendary comedian and actor Red Skelton. Another is the long-running Patty Waszak show. Patty, aka “Anita Mann,” sings legendary songs while performing family-friendly comedy between numbers. Also, don't miss Timeless Tributes, a one-man show starring Greg Stout, who pays homage to artists like Neil Sedaka, Elton John, Michael Bublé and Barry Manilow.
Some may think of this as simply an attraction, but there's no mistaking that that this wrestling venue, which showcases the athletic feats of little people, is a theater in every sense of the word. The Micro Wrestlers, all under five feet tall, compete in WWE-style events. The organization has been around since 2000, and its affiliate locations have presented thousands of wrestling events in its nearly 25-year-history.
We'll wrap up our look at theater shows in the Smokies next week. And as we work our way all the way to the south end of Pigeon Forge, we'll be getting closer and closer to our home turf at Smoky Mountain Ziplines. We're located just two miles from the Parkway on Conner Heights Road. That road turns into Mill Creek Road, and if you continue west, you'll soon arrive at our canopy tour outpost in the Smokies. We hope to see you sometime this spring or summer!
