Your Guide To Outlet Mall Shopping

With just about two weeks left until Christmas, a lot of folks are starting to feel the crunch when it comes to getting all that holiday gift shopping finished in time for the big day. So many names on the list and so little time (and sometimes, money).

However, we have a strategy for a great way to check off a bunch of those boxes and possibly squeeze in a little play time in the process. And you might even save some money along the way. It's all possible with an outlet-mall shopping trip to the Smokies. This week, we'll be sharing a few ideas for the best places to go as well as some examples of the types of merchandise that await.

Tanger Outlets Sevierville

This collection of outlet-mall stores is one of the top shopping destinations in the Smokies year 'round. But during the holidays, you can really load up on in-demand items that are competitively priced when compared to the typical retail store. Dozens of individual shops are dispersed among Tanger's multiple buildings, each providing exterior access and lots of parking.

Overall, you'll find all kinds of merch, especially when it comes to clothing and footwear. Name brands like Adidas, Ann Taylor, Carter's, The Gap, Haggar, Lane Bryant and Michael Kors are just some of the sources you'll find. But there's so much more to Tanger Outlets than apparel. Shops like Bath & Body Works, Beef Jerky Outlet, Direct Tools, Fragrance Outlet, Kay Jewelers, Pepper Palace, Sunglass Hut and The Cosmetics Company Store prove that you'll be able to find something for the hardest-to-shop-for folks.

There are also food vendors on site to keep you nourished between rounds of retail. Grab a cup of joe at Starbucks, take time for some sugar therapy at Gigi's Cupcakes or sit down to a full meal at the Chop House.

Further, if you visit their website before you visit, you'll discover links to discount coupons and promotional sales posted by individual shops, which help you save even further on their everyday low prices. During this time of year, Tanger Outlets also hosts special seasonal events like Elf on the Shelf Magical Mornings (through 12/15) and the Elf on the Shelf Scavenger Hunt (through 12/24).

Pigeon Forge Factory Outlet Stores

Located in the heart of town, this longtime retail destination-often referred to simply as “the red roof mall”-offers nearly 200,000 square feet of shopping opportunities for visitors. It's one of the original outlet malls in the Smokies and currently has nearly two dozen shops from which to choose, including Big Dog Sportswear, Corningware, Corelle & More, Handbag Superstore, Rack Room Shoes, Souvenir World and Smoky's Furniture Connection. Like most outlet centers, the shops at Pigeon Forge Factory Outlet World offer discounts on popular brand names and, often, unique and hard-to-find items.

One of the great advantages of shopping at this outlet mall is that it puts you in the heart of Pigeon Forge, close to dozens and dozens of other shops, restaurants and attractions. So you can easily spend part of your day shopping and the rest of it taking in a music theater show or visiting an attraction like the Titanic Museum Attraction.

This particular outlet mall is also a very short drive from Smoky Mountain Ziplines. We're only two miles off the Parkway, and if you've been thinking about ziplining Pigeon Forge, TN, this year, your chances are dwindling. We'll only be open a few more weekends in 2021. Governor's Crossing Outlet

We'll take you back to Sevierville to visit this outlet mall located in the Governor's Crossing development. They have a wide variety of shops, services and specialty boutiques, with merchandise that includes books, shoes, tools, sunglasses, scrapbook supplies and much more. Stores include Décor & More, Smoky Mountain Coin & Jewelry, CATO, Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts, Books-A-Million.

The outlet mall is actually just one facet of an entire resort development located at the Governor's Crossing site. The resort also features condo rentals, indoor and outdoor waterparks, game rooms and playgrounds, a fitness center and an area called Firefly Cove that has fire pits, hammocks, movies and a day camp for kids.

In addition to the three outlet malls we've mentioned above, there are also several standalone outlet shops you might want to check out while you're in town. These include the Nike Clearance Store, the Lee Wrangler Clearance Center and the Under Armour Factory House.
