This Week In Winterfest

Last week, we offered some general suggestions for things that you and your family can do during the Winterfest celebration in the Great Smoky Mountains. These included outings like outlet-mall shopping, seeing live shows and touring the Winterfest light displays in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville.
This week, we're going to drill down a little more into the various calendars of events here in our area and pass along some specific happenings that might inspire you to come to the Smokies and experience that Winterfest magic for yourselves. Most of these activities are suitable for family members of all ages, so if you happen to need a little Christmas right this very minute, you may just find what you're looking for in the listings to follow.
Christmas at Country Tonite Theatre – During most of the theater season, this Pigeon Forge music theater is devoted to all things country music. This time of year, however, the spirit of the season comes alive through renditions of favorite Christmas tunes as well as elegant choreography, holiday-themed sets and costumes, and much more. In addition to the regular cast, you'll enjoy appearances from guest performers such as Frosty the Snowman, Santa Claus and the Sugar Plum Fairy. This holiday version of the Country Tonite show continues through the end of the year.
Christmas Disaster Dinner Show at Hatfield McCoy Family Feud – This Pigeon Forge dinner show is already a hoot thanks to its family-feud premise and a storyline that includes feats of strength, stunts and side-splitting comedy. For the Christmas holidays, however, the Hatfields and the McCoys try to set aside their differences in the spirit of the season as the two families come together for a night of fun, food and entertainment. The menu for theater guests includes fried chicken, country pulled pork shoulder, smashed taters, fluffy biscuits, corn on the cob, creamy vegetable soup and more.
Polar Express Journey to the North Pole at Beyond the Lens! – Flyride is an interactive movie-ride experience at the Beyond the Lens! attraction in Pigeon Forge. For the holidays, guests can immerse themselves in The Polar Express Journey to the North Pole, a magical film adventure in which passengers feel like they're actually flying, thanks to motion-enabled seats and a giant movie screen. Those who attend on December 14 will also be able to have photos taken with Santa Claus.
Christmas Never Ends Drive-Thru Light Show – This is a brand-new drive-through attraction in Sevierville that allows attendees to motor past twinkling holiday lights and animated displays. The experience is open nightly from 5:30 until 10 p.m. on weeknights and until 11 p.m. on weekends, through February 14, 2024.
Smoky Mountain Ziplines – Yep, we're still doing the zipline thing here for a few more weeks. And with the crazy weather we've had this fall, be prepared for any kind of conditions, from cold to light-layer temperatures. If you've been looking for one last adventure to see out 2023, come experience the winning combination that makes us a favorite place to zipline: Tennessee scenery, a breathtaking canopy tour and amazing customer service.
SkyLand's Festival of Lights – In Sevierville, the SkyLand Ranch theme park introduces its Festival of Lights for the 2023-2024 holidays. Running through February 18, this event features more than 100 displays containing approximately 1 million lights - including a nativity scene, cowboy scenes and a 25-foot-tall LED Christmas tree as a centerpiece. Guests will also enjoy a tunnel of lights running from the attraction's courtyard to the entrance of Legacy Lookout, where they'll be able to see millions more lights in the city below.
