Summer may be officially over, but there are still plenty of warm days ahead, so it's still a great time to come visit the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. Whether you choose to explore the national park or check out one of the many great attractions in the area, you'll find plenty of ways to keep your gang entertained while you're here.
And don't forget that our zipline attraction is still going to be open for a few more months this season, offering plenty of chances to experience the thrill of soaring through the air, high above the beautiful scenery of the Smokies. Ziplines, Smoky Mountains and beautiful days all add up to a magical way for you and your family to spend a morning or afternoon.
There are also a couple of special events going on in the area this week that might be of interest:
• 32nd Annual Shades of the Past Hot Rod Roundup – Taking place at Dollywood's Splash Country September 5 and 6, this annual event features more than 200 hot rods competing for prizes that range from $10,000 cash to a 1932 Ford Hi-Boy Roadster. Admission is $10 for ages 13 and older and free for ages 12 and younger. Note that traffic can get congested on rod-run weekends, so if you're not planning to check out this event, plan your travel around town accordingly.
• Sevier County Fair – This annual county fair runs through Saturday at the Sevier County Fairgrounds in Sevierville. Activities include a carnival midway, livestock and agricultural exhibitions, live music and dance performers, the Fairest of the Fair competition and fun competitions like a lawnmower race, ice cream eating contest, Lego building and watermelon seed spitting.
