This is the time of year to get outside and make the most out of your time in the Great Smoky Mountains. We recommend taking a two-pronged approach to your outdoor experience.

First, try out a local attraction that takes advantage of our beautiful scenery. And there's no better place to do that than our Smoky Mountain zip line attraction. Set in the rolling foothills of the Smokies, our 24-line canopy tour gives you a full range of zipline options, all in a gorgeous, hilly, wooded setting. You'll take in all the sights, sounds, smells and sensations that make having fun in the Smokies such a memorable adventure.

Of course, we also recommend visiting Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and since we're coming into the heart of the visitor season, we're presenting an alphabetical list of the most popular things to do in the park. This week, let's start with A, B and C.

• Auto touring – See panoramic vistas, cascading river, historic buildings and majestic forests on any of the park roads, including the Cades Cove and the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail.

• Bicycling – Pedal through the Cades Cove loop on a summer morning to experience the best that nature has to offer.

• Camping – From developed campgrounds with bathroom and picnic facilities to primitive backcountry sites, it's time to pitch a tent and sleep beneath the stars.
