You can make your next trip to Pigeon Forge a celebration of things that go fast if you combine our zip lines in the Smoky Mountains with two upcoming special events that cater specifically to the car lover in all of us.
The 29th Annual Shades of the Past Rod Run runs September 9 and 10 and is being staged this year at Dollywood's Splash Country. Less than a week later, get in gear for the annual Grand Fall Rod Run, which is based at the Grand Resort Hotel Convention Center. Like Smoky Mountain Ziplines, both venues are located in Pigeon Forge.
For those unfamiliar with the term “rod run,” it's the catchall name for any of the area's many antique and/or custom automobile show. During both upcoming Pigeon Forge events, hundreds of car buffs from dozens of states converge on the exhibition sites to show off their rides, shop for parts and accessories and otherwise socialize with fellow auto enthusiasts.
Cars are judged on factors such as attention to detail, cleanliness, modifications and overall appearance. Beyond the judging and prizes, there's also a lot of shoptalk and respectful admiring of the competition. Visitors to Pigeon Forge typically line the streets with their folding chairs to watch the constant passing parade of vehicles, while guests in hotels overlooking the Parkway get a great view of all the action.
Speaking of action, you can become a part of it rather than just being a spectator by visiting us at Smoky Mountain Ziplines. Our fastest lines will get you moving along at speeds of up to 40 miles per hour, which means you'll be moving faster than the traffic on the Parkway!
