Smoky Mountain Theaters Spread Christmas Cheer

During Smoky Mountain Winterfest, the communities of Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and Sevierville go all out to celebrate Christmas and the entire holiday period. That includes millions of colorful lights and dozens of seasonally themed events. Our local music theaters always get in on the act too, offering up special holiday versions of their usual stage productions. Whether it's music, magic or games of competition in the spotlight, if you take in a show between now and the end of the year, there's a good chance you'll wind up receiving a little extra Christmas cheer.

This week, we're sharing a few examples of what's in store for the holidays at several of our Smoky Mountain music theaters.

Country Tonite Theatre, Pigeon Forge – This festive experience includes renditions of iconic Christmas songs as well as extravagant holiday decorations, spirited choreography and special appearances from Frosty the Snowman and Santa Claus. It's a show that all ages will appreciate.

Comedy Barn Theater, Pigeon Forge – Yes, you'll hear Christmas music and see holiday costumes and decorations, but don't forget that comedy is the name of the game here. Unique Christmas-themed acts will take the stage alongside proven crowd pleasers like the Comedy Barn Canines and the Comedy Barn Cloggers, all joining forces to serve up a feast of laughter this season.

Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede Dinner & Show, Pigeon Forge – Throughout the year, this equestrian-themed showplace highlights a friendly competition between the blue and the gray, but during the holidays, you can also add uplifting music, a mischievous elf, high-flying acrobatics, figure skating, a live nativity, an appearance by the Nutcracker and, as always, a fabulous four-course feast.

Sweet Fanny Adams Theatre, Gatlinburg – You can actually catch multiple shows throughout the week at this longtime house of hilarity in downtown Gatlinburg, but for Christmas, you might be interested in Ollie's Festive Follies, A Holiday Celebration! In keeping with the theater's turn-of-the-century theme, this vaudeville-style variety show features songs, dances and comedy routines that all play out with holiday flair.

Smoky Mountain Opry, Pigeon Forge – This theater's multi-million-dollar Christmas production features flying sugar plum fairies, soaring angels, dancing elves, enchanted reindeer, jolly ol' St. Nick himself and a celebration of the birth of Christ. Oh, and you may also want to see The Voice Season 12 winner Chris Blue performing live during this holiday show.

Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Feud, Pigeon Forge – This dinner show goes all out for the holidays with its Christmas Disaster show. The cast puts the “fun” in “dysfunctional” as the Hatfield and McCoy clans try to set aside their differences in the spirit of the season. But things naturally fall apart as the families gather for an evening of food and entertainment that includes holiday singing and dancing, feats of strength, jaw-dropping stunts and comedy aplenty.

Celebration! Dinner Show, Pigeon Forge – From the beautiful live nativity to dazzling figure skaters and a mischievous elf, this special Christmas show will delight the family with holiday music, all set in an enchanting winter wonderland. The four-course dinner includes creamy vegetable soup, pan-fried chicken, sweet potato delight and more.

In addition to all these theaters, don't forget that the many theater venues at Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge also have special holiday shows taking place throughout Dollywood's Smoky Mountain Christmas. Shows to look out for include Appalachian Christmas, Christmas In The Smokies, It's A Wonderful Life, O Holy Night and 'Twas The Night Before Christmas.

Meanwhile, you can still enjoy the holidays with outdoor activities like our Smoky Mountains zipline course, located just a couple miles off the Parkway in Pigeon Forge. We'll be open weekends through the end of the year as well as all Christmas week (except for Christmas Day). We hope you'll help us see out 2018 with a thrilling zipline adventure!
