Mountain Mile Is A One-Stop Experience

The Mountain Mile multiuse development in Pigeon Forge offers mountains of vacation opportunity for folks visiting the Smokies. It's been in ongoing development for the past few years, and now, it's close to being fully occupied by a wide array of retailers, food vendors, attractions and more. Read on to learn the latest about what's in store.

You'll find the Mountain Mile on Teaster Lane, on the site of the former Belz Factory Outlet World. It's easy to find, and there's a ton of free parking out front and elsewhere. In total, the development sits on 170 acres and offers more than a million square feet of retail, restaurant and entertainment space.

Currently, most of the project's newest retail and food vendors are located in The Tower Shops section of the development. These include REI CO-OP, BAAK Boutique, Nike, Coffee Armory, Appalachian Apparel Co., Cinnaholic, Cream & Sugar Sweet Shoppe, Azul and the Mountain Mile General Store, to mention several. You'll also find two retail annexes-one next door to The Tower Shops and one across the street-which house a variety of retail ventures that have been doing business at that location for years.

Developers are currently in negotiations with an escape-room attraction to move into one of the available spaces in The Tower Shops, and one of the anchor spaces on the north end of the building will soon be the home of Guy Fieri's Downtown Flavortown, a 43,000-square-foot venue operated by the Food Network star and celebrity chef. The complex will feature a 300-plus-seat restaurant and tiki bar called Guy Fieri's American Kitchen & Bar as well as a 14-lane duck-pin bowling alley and an arcade.

The restaurant's menu will offer items like Trash Can Nachos made with pork, Fieri's award-winning Bacon Mac 'N' Cheeseburger, stuffed waffle creations and a wide array of desserts, such as the Cheesecake Challenge and Layered Chocolate Whiskey Cake. Downtown Flavortown is expected to open later this year.

The Tower Shops stores and eateries are fronted by landscaped pedestrian walkways, water features and large green spaces that can serve as a food truck park or an event lawn capable of accommodating concerts, movies, pop-up markets and ice skating in winter.

There's more to the Mountain Mile than just shopping and eating, however. You can have a little fun while you're there too, thanks to the Mountain Monster, a 200-foot-tall thrill tower. The structure is where you'll find three high-intensity rides: Monster Fall is a classic drop tower; Monster Dive simulates a free-fall skydive experience; and Monster Launch shoots you 170 feet straight up into the sky using compressed air. There's an option to do a flip if you're brave enough.

If, by chance, the Mountain Mile doesn't eat up your entire day, there's plenty more vacation opportunity within walking distance, including The Island development (home of Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville and Paula Deen's restaurant), the $45 million LeConte Event Center and the $22 million Cal Ripken Experience baseball park.
