Did you happen to catch our blog post from last week? It was all about playing mini golf in the Great Smoky Mountains. That's because mini golf is one of the most popular things to do among vacationers in our area. So if a trip to the Smokies is in your future this summer, there's probably a decent chance that you'll be seeing some putting action while you're here.
But last week, we only introduced you to a few of our favorite mini golf establishments in Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and Sevierville. This week, we're going to finish things off with another lineup of attractions that will definitely help you scratch that mini-golf itch. Some of them are actually pretty close to our Smoky Mountains zip line attraction, so think of mini golf and ziplining as a great one-two punch on one of your vacation days.
This is one of many indoor mini-golf sites you'll find in the Smokies, this one being specifically located in downtown Gatlinburg. Because of that feature alone, it's a good place to go for some fun on a rainy day or perhaps an extremely hot (or cold) one. The course features 18 holes based on an Indiana Jones-style theme, with Egyptian and pirate décor that will add a little zazz to your round. Five of the holes feature black lights and neon paint, which give players a unique putting experience.
It should be no shocker that this course is also in Gatlinburg. The miniature golf experience is just one of the many family activities available at the Gatlin's attraction, and it offers a total of 45 holes of fun, making it one of the largest such mini-golf destinations in the area. Two of the courses are located outdoors and are on a scenic hillside. You'll learn about Gatlinburg's history along the way, as each hole tells the story of the area's first settlers and the city's fascinating past.
Any of you remember Magic World in Pigeon Forge? It was a small amusement park on the Parkway, and it was filled with lots of dinky, kitschy rides and attractions. Well, they tore that down a long time ago, and Professor Hacker's Lost Treasure Golf was built in its place. The two 18-hole outdoor courses feature lots of large-scale elements like a volcano and an airplane, making it highly visible from the street. You ride a mining car to the top of the mountain and putt your way back down through caves, waterfalls, a pirate ship and more.
This is pretty much what it sounds like. You'll find two 18-hole courses, one of which features fantasy elements like dragons, serpents and mermaids, while the other showcases real-life creatures like dinosaurs (although they haven't been alive for a long, long time). Both courses meander through features like a giant volcano, waterfalls, streams and more. Holes also have wheels you can spin to alter the action. For example, if you land on “Upside Down,” you have to hit the ball with the handle of your club.
This place has all kinds of family attractions on site, one of which is mini golf. The 18 holes are all indoors and all black-lit, making it a unique experience in the Smokies.
And like we said at the beginning of this post, be sure to work in a trip to our ziplines while you're out for the day. Maybe you could do your ziplining in the morning when it's cooler and then hit an indoor course in the afternoon during the heat of the day. However you manage it, though, you're in for a great day in the Smokies!
