Dining Options In The Smokies

Hopefully, all of you are continuing to be safe and healthy, staying at home as much as possible but keeping your distance from other people (and even wearing a mask) when you do have to go out in public for essentials like food and medications. And of course, we hope you're staying diligent about washing your hands, both at home and when interacting with the outside world. At Smoky Mountain Ziplines, we're taking some down time as well so we can do our part to help things get back to normal as soon as possible.

Those of you who happen to be visiting in the Smokies as well as those of you who live in the area may be wondering what your options are when it comes to dining out. Some of you may not be able to do much cooking right now, or perhaps you've spent too much time in the kitchen lately and would simply like to let someone else handle meal-preparation duties for one night. The good news is that there are still plenty of restaurants open that offer delivery and/or carryout service.

Here's a partial list of restaurants in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville that you can patronize for the time being. Many have websites and/or apps that allow for online ordering. Note, however, that this is the latest information we have available (current as of April 7), so it's always a good idea to call any specific business to make sure they're open before trying to place an order online.

Mulligan's restaurant, Sevierville Golf Club (take-out)

Big Daddy's Pizzeria, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville (take-out)

Alamo Steakhouse, Gatlinburg (take-out)

Bennett's Pit Bar-B-Que, Pigeon Forge (take-out)

Joe & Pop's Sub Shoppe, Gatlinburg (take-out)

Mad Dog's Creamery & Donuts, Gatlinburg (take-out)

Monster Mash Burgers, Sevierville (take-out, drive-through)

Smokies Cuban Café, Pigeon Forge (take-out, curbside pick-up, delivery)

Huck Finn's Catfish, Pigeon Forge (take-out, curbside pick-up, delivery)

Smoky's Pancake Cabin, Pigeon Forge (take-out)

Flapjack's, Pigeon Forge (take-out)

Quaker Steak & Lube, Sevierville (take-out, delivery)

Corky's Ribs & BBQ, Pigeon Forge (take-out, drive-through, delivery)

Golden Corral, Sevierville (take-out, delivery)

T.G.I. Friday's, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge (take-out, delivery)

Mellow Mushroom, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge (curbside pick-up, delivery)

Pizza at the Cove, Pigeon Forge (take-out, delivery)

Pawpaw's Catfish Kitchen, Sevierville (take-out)

Calhoun's, Gatlinburg (take-out, delivery)

Smoky Mountain Brewery, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg (take-out, delivery)

In addition to this list, you can also assume that most national fast-food chains are offering drive-through service, and most of the national pizza chains are still delivering.

A few tips when it comes to handling carryout and delivery orders… If you can order online or by phone, do so, to minimize the amount of time you have to spend in close proximity to a restaurant employee. If you do pay on site, try to keep your distance. Once you get your order home, it's recommended that you transfer your food items into your own serving and storage pieces, dispose of the carryout containers and wash your hands thoroughly before eating. And don't forget little steps that are easy to overlook, like sanitizing your debit/credit card, keys and anything else you handle while going to get your food with a disinfectant wipe. Yes, it's a lot of extra hassle, but it's worth it to protect yourself and your family members.

Finally, lots of folks are facing economic hardships for the foreseeable future, so when it's feasible, be generous when tipping delivery people and restaurant employees, and always try to be patient with food-service workers. Right now, everyone's doing the best they can.

For now, our Gatlinburg canopy tours are on hold, but we still need some fun in our lives, right? So keep your eyes open for next week's blog post, in which we'll share some ideas for ways to have fun with the rest of the family when you're all stuck in the house.
