We're into the full swing of zipline season here at Smoky Mountain Ziplines in Pigeon Forge. We're heading into Memorial Day weekend, which is the unofficial start of the summer travel season, so we're ready to shift into high gear as we welcome visitors from all over the country.

That's great news for everyone, but if you're considering doing some ziplining with us this season, you should know that we require all guests to book their tours in advance. It helps us allocate our staff accordingly, and it also keeps you, the potential guest, from showing up only to find that we're booked solid for the time slot you were hoping for.

There are two ways to book your canopy tour with us. One is to call us at 865-429-9004, and one of our staff members will be happy to assist you with choosing the day and time slot that best accommodates your party. That's also an easy way to apply a Smoky Mountain Ziplines coupon if you happen to have one of those. (By the way, we offer a wide variety of discounts as it is, including lower rates for seniors age 65 and older and military personnel.)

The other way to book is through our website. It's a straightforward and intuitive process that begins with a view of our monthly calendar. Simply scroll to the month you want to visit and click on the date you're most interested in. We'll show you how many time slots we have available for tours that day as well as the number of individual openings left for each tour. Generally, the first tour starts at 10 a.m., and the last tour can start as late as 5 p.m. We will book as many as eight guests per tour.

Once you've picked your time slot, you'll be prompted to choose your ticket category (ages 8 to 64, senior citizen or military) and the number of guests in your party. As you make your selections, you'll see a running price total on the screen. There are also a couple of housekeeping items we ask you to comply with, including acknowledgment of weight and age requirements, agreement to arrive 30 minutes before your tour is scheduled to start and the option of renting a GoPro camera to capture your zipline experience (for an additional fee). After that, we just need your contact and payment information, and you're ready to fly.

Those who book tours in advance are eligible for a full refund as long as cancellations are made more than 24 hours in advance of the scheduled tour time. Cancellations made within that 24-hour window are subject to a 50-percent cancellation fee.

Once you arrive on our property, we'll guide you through the rest of your experience, from check-in and getting outfitted with safety gear to driving you up the mountain to the beginning of our seven-line zipline course and teaching you how to launch and land properly. A team of two guides will be with you every step of the way to ensure that you stay safe on your outing, but they also do a great job of keeping our guests entertained.

That frees you up to just enjoy your two hours in the wooded foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. Breathe in the fresh air, soak up the sunshine, meet some new friends and, most importantly, hang on as you experience the thrills and excitement of flying through the air on a zipline cable, at times more than 100 feet off the ground.
