Spring officially arrives Thursday. That calls for a celebration. And we can't think of a better way to commemorate the occasion than by pulling together a quick trip to Pigeon Forge this weekend. It's not hard. You shouldn't have any trouble finding a hotel/motel room or an overnight rental on this short notice, and even if you just want to make a day trip out of it, there's plenty going on in town to fill even the most ambitious of itineraries.
But if you're still short on ideas, we have five good ones to throw at you. It's up to you to decide which of them will stick.
They've kicked off their 2019 season at Dollywood, and as they do every year, things are getting started with an international flavor at the Festival of Nations. Running through April 14, this celebration of cultures from all over the world features live entertainment in addition to unique cuisines and merchandise. Among the acts performing in this year's festival is Cuba Vibra!, a Havana-based group that shares that country's music and dance from the 1950s to the present. Also look for Drumstruck, an interactive drum experience featuring traditional African beats combined with explosive energy. Meanwhile, you festival foodies will enjoy the flavors of multiple participating countries, including authentic recipes by Cuba's own celebrity chef, Chef Pepín.
Put your brainpower to the test at this escape-room attraction, where you and your teammates can work together to break out of your choice of themed scenarios. Adventures include Prison Break, Gold Rush, The Heist, Mission: Mars and Classified. The rooms vary in difficulty level, and once you've watched an instructional video, you and your team have one hour to overcome challenges, find clues and solve puzzles in order to set yourself free.
We're up and running for the year as well, and it looks like we're in for some awesome spring weather this weekend. Our seven-line canopy tour is one of the longest zipline experiences in the Smokies, plus we offer a vertical descent feature and unforgettable views of the mountains. And when you combine all that with our Pigeon Forge zip line prices, it's easy to see why we're the top-rated outdoor attraction in town. We're easy to find, too. Our outpost is located just two miles off the main Parkway in Pigeon Forge, so you won't have to wander too far off the beaten path to find one of the most thrilling outdoor experiences in the Smokies.
Join master illusionist Terry Evanswood at the WonderWorks attraction for this daily display of dazzling magic and illusion. Terry is the longest-running headline performer in Pigeon Forge; his sold-out shows have been entertaining kids and adults in this area for more than two decades. From close-up magic to large-scale illusions, Wonders of Magic is consistently one of the highest rated shows in town on tripadvisor.com.
You can't miss this attraction, located at The Island in Pigeon Forge; it's the giant Ferris wheel dominating the skyline and standing against the backdrop of the Smokies. At more than 200 feet tall, this ride takes passengers up (and down) in climate-controlled, glassed-in gondolas that afford breathtaking views of the mountains and the entire surrounding region. Each car seats as many as eight guests, so you can pack in the whole gang if you like. And while you're at The Island, you'll find even more attractions as well as multiple restaurants and unique shops.
