Anyone who has ever experienced ziplines in the Smoky Mountains knows that this exciting recreational activity is a safe way to find thrills in the great outdoors. First-timers, however, may have questions about what kind of skill or experience level is required to go ziplining. The good news is that virtually anyone who falls within our age and weight guidelines can participate, even if he or she has never done so before. And no, we don't just send people out on our highest and fastest ziplines right off the bat. As with any activity, you have to crawl before you walk, and at Smoky Mountain Ziplines we start everyone off on a short, slow zipline that's only a few feet off the ground. That's where your guides will go over all the safety instructions as well as the procedure for exiting a launch platform, what to do while traveling along the zipline and specific hand signals that tell you when and how much you should brake. Of course, everyone gets a practice run. From there, the 14 ziplines in our canopy tour gradually get longer, faster and higher, giving everyone a chance to get comfortable with the experience.
